Gifted For Ministry
![]() God has given every Christian at least one spiritual gift. God's gifts enable us to fulfill the ministry for which we have been created. We may not know what it will be, but God is calling each of us to do something in the world. The word "ministry" comes from the Latin word for "servant." Whether that service is inside the church or outside in the community, we all have a job to do. All Christians are uniquely gifted by God for service in the church and in the world. Being gifted for ministry is a both a journey and a process that will involve learning and growing. During this process you will encounter many situations, some good and some bad. You will question yourself, why should I wait until I am married to have sex; why be faithful to church or my spouse; why tell the truth, why tithe? You will also suffer some things, you will be lied on, talked about, you will suffer loss (of friends, family, money, etc.). I think every gifted and anointed child of God has at some point asked God why me? Why must I be silent while they lie on me, scandalize my name, and misuse me? Why should I pray for them and do good to them? {Matthew 5:44} What we are calling trials are all part of growing and maturing as a Christian. These are the things that should cause us to stop, and reflect, on the love and patience God has had with us. Though they cause us pain we must remember that this is a spiritual exercise to help equip you to better serve God according to His will. Just as with Job these trials are because of your gift and not because you have sinned or failed God in some way. So we must be determined like Apostle Paul to let nothing separate us from the love of God. (Romans 8). And remind ourselves that the sufferings of this present world are not worthy to be compared with the glory that shall be revealed in us. We are gifted; we are called, anointed and appointed for Ministry. Even though you are gifted, you must keep in mind that anything worth having is worth fighting for, and anything of value is wanted by another. The devil wants your gifts, you peace your joy, your anointing, and he will use anything and anyone he can to get us. Don’t let things and situations cause you to forsake your ministry or your gift. Know that you will suffer some things- 1 Peter 4:1- Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

From The Pastor's Desk
What are my options?
Genesis 2:16-17- And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: [17] But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
God is far more concerned with how we live our lives than the specific path we take. So, “How are we to make choices about an important decision in life?” The Bible teaches that we are to seek wisdom. We are commanded to seek wisdom with all we have: “How much better it is to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen above silver” (Proverbs 16:16). Each day we, just like Adam and Eve are faced with the choice to do right or to do wrong. We have to consider our options; and through seeking the Lord in prayer we should make the right choice. We all know to read the directions before we take medication, but most of us either don’t read them or don’t follow them to the letter. God’s is no different, He makes his word very plain and if we follow his directions we will be made whole. But, just as your doctor doesn’t come to your house and force feed you your medication, God does not force his will up you. It is up to each believer to decide if he will look up and live. We all have made some poor choices in our lifetime. We have caused pain both to ourselves and others. However, the results of these poor choices should help us to learn to make better decisions in the future. Not only should they help us to grow and mature, but we can then be a living testimony to help others avoid the snares of the enemy. In Joshua 24:15 -Joshua encouraged the people to make a choice of whom they should serve. That same option faces us today. Options - the power or right to choose :freedom of choice. We must remember which faced with options that not all opportunities are of God! Satan tries to distract us, cause us to lose faith and to stray from the path we are on. God wants us to honor our commitments and stay focused in life. Satan wants us to look at everything else instead of what we already have. It is Satan’s job to make something look good, but we must recall what Jesus said in the wilderness when tempted by Satan (Matt.4). Our Lord and Saviour taught us to look beyond our immediate desires to insure the future outcome. I challenge you today and every other day to grab hold to your faith. Ask God daily to direct your path and your choices. Don’t allow Satan to distract you from what you know is right, and cause you to make a decision that you will spend eternity paying for. In the Master’s Service, Pastor Jerome Elliott Soul FoodA real leader faces the music, even when he doesn't like the tune." Nobody can do everything, but everyone can do something. We have no right to ask when sorrow comes, "Why did this happen to me?" unless we ask the same question for every moment of happiness that comes our way. Instead of counting your days, make your days count. Convert difficulties into opportunities, for difficulties are divine surgeries to make you better. Every day may not be good, but there's something good in every day. God has not called us to see through each other, but to see each other through. When you dig another out of their troubles, you find a place to bury your own. Treat everyone with politeness, even those who are rude to you - not because they are nice, but because you are. Go the extra mile. It's never crowded. Sometimes the littlest things in life are the hardest to take. You can sit on a mountain more comfortably than on a tack. The difficulties of life are intended to make us better, not bitter Counterhits |
